Doylestown Airport Hosts Annual “Celebration of Flight” Open House on May 16

Event offers family-oriented activities including free plane rides, unique and historic aircraft, “please touch” plane demos for kids, music, food and demonstrations

 

The fifth annual “Celebration of Flight” Community Open House will be held Saturday, May 16 (raindate Sunday, May 17) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Doylestown Airport, located at the intersection of Old Easton and Landisville Roads.  This event is sponsored by the Bucks County Airport Authority and the Doylestown Pilots Association.

            During the open house, guests will enjoy a variety of family-oriented activities including free airplane rides from noon to 3 p.m. (sign-ups for the rides begin at 10 a.m.), live music, refreshments and demonstrations – including Radio Control Flyers and Power Parachuters (weather permitting).  

            A variety of aircraft will also be on display during the open house, including a 1931 Bird BK, a 1947 Aeronca Champ 7DC, a 1948 Luscomb, and a 1965 Mooney M20C.  Additionally, the Temple Health System Transport Team/PennSTAR air medical helicopter and its crew will be on hand from noon – 2 p.m. for anyone interested in learning about these state-of-the-art aircraft.

            This year’s air rides will kick off with a presentation by Twilight Wish Foundation who will grant the wish of a ride in an airplane to local couple Harry and Marge Schubert.
